At DM Systems, we have long known that our operations have an impact on the environment. That’s why, every year since 1993, we have recycled all of our packaging and paper waste. Through our continued efforts, we have kept an average of four tons of waste per year from going to the landfill.
But maintaining a commitment to sustainability requires more than a recycling bin. That’s why we partnered with a local corporate sustainability consultant, Go 2green. With their assistance, we completed a rigorous process that reviewed all aspects of our business. Go 2green identified some key areas of focus where we were able to make an immediate impact, including:
Energy efficiency: installed more energy efficient lighting throughout the office to shave five tons of CO2 from our carbon footprint
Transportation: certified as a Bike Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists
Employee engagement: provided pre-tax employee transit benefits to encourage employees to use public transportation
The changes at our corporate headquarters are just the beginning. In the coming months, we will introduce D2W certified biodegradable packaging for our flagship product, the Heelift® Suspension Boot, and the Heelift® AFO. This innovation alone will remove hundreds of thousands of plastic bags from landfills. Check back for updates as we expand our commitment to sustainable business.
